I offer pluralistic counselling. For my practice, pluralistic is a mixture of person-centred, gestalt, CBT and psychoanalysis. This means that I can cherry-pick the best tools and techniques for your unique needs.
I have a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Psychology Degree, a level 4 Certificate in Counselling from UWE and a King’s Trust Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice. I am fully insured by the Federation of Holistic Therapists and an Accredited Registrant of the NCPS.
You are a unique person, and your counselling journey will be unique. Some people find that just the act of taking control by making an appointment and coming to the session helps them to feel better. Things like what your specific goals are, the length of time it takes for you to feel open and trusting with me and what else is going on in your life will all have an influence. A big part of how counselling goes is what you do between the sessions.
I do not limit the amount of sessions a client has. We will regularly review how you are feeling about sessions and discuss how to handle an ending at the appropriate time.
Each session is 50 minutes long. If this is a barrier for you, please discuss it with me.
I offer both daytime and evening sessions. Please get in touch to discuss availability. Sessions usually happen weekly.
I work from a dedicated room in BS5/Redfield in Bristol.
I also offer online counselling.
In order to avoid bothering my web designer, I won’t put my fees here but you can find them on my NCPS directory profile.
I work with all sorts of clients. The limits to this are that I cannot work with someone I know well, or a friend/family member of theirs, anyone who has issues that are outside of my competency or anyone under 18 years old.
A counselling session is a space for you to talk about whatever is on your mind in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.
I will use active listening techniques to identify any points that might benefit from more focus. I may suggest psychoeducation around a certain topic or an activity we could do to support your processing.
You can always say no to anything I suggest. You can also tell me if you don’t like how the counselling is going and would like me to do something differently.
I love using creative techniques and physical props to look at things differently and support processing. Perhaps we will even get the Lego out!
Yes please! I want you to be comfortable in our sessions so I have different options for seating, fidget toys and a glass of water for you. Stimming, moving and swearing all are very welcome. I also have lots of cushions and blankets (including a weighted one) so you can cosy up when needed.
Due to dual relationship ethics I will not be able to connect with you on any personal social media accounts.
However, I’d love for you to follow my professional social media accounts! You can find them on Facebook and Instagram. Please keep any communication/comments general and use my email or WhatsApp/text to discuss appointment changes. Feel free to like, save and share my content though!
I have experience with all of the above, either directly or by close contact with people who identify this way. I love to learn about all the different ways people can be, express themselves, live and love others. I am here to support you to be your most YOU self (as long as that isn't hurting others).
Please come to me first and I will do my best to deal with the situation. If I can’t resolve the issue, please contact the NCPS.
Tell me! The most important aspect of counselling is your relationship with your counsellor and each person needs/wants different things from counselling. I’d love it if you feel comfortable enough to talk about your feelings with me. We might find we can tweak something to make it work for you but if not, I might be able to recommend someone who will work better. Do bear in mind that therapeutic relationships can take some time to develop so it might be worth giving it a bit more time, especially if you notice that you have a pattern of withdrawing when things get hard, but it is completely up to you.
Firstly, we work out a good time for us to have a meet me chat
I will send you a form to complete before the chat, having the information beforehand helps us make the most of our meeting but don’t worry if you don’t want to or forget.
The meet me chat usually happens online and takes 15 minutes
I will then email you our contract to read over and, as long as you are happy with it, book your first session in.
I will then send you a welcome email with details of exactly where the session will be, as well as other useful information.
We will go over the most important bits of the contract in the first session and then get started.
And that’s it!
